Obituary

George “Lash” LaRue, Jr. 71, of Steubenville, OH passed away Sunday August 30, 2020 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

He was born December 21, 1948 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late George “Bill” LaRue, Sr. and Kathryn “Joann” LaRue of Brilliant, OH. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph LaRue.

Lash retired in 2002 from U.S. Can. He was an avid classic car enthusiast and enjoyed rebuilding cars. He was a racecar driver in his younger days. Lash was Presbyterian by Faith and enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Sandy (Wright) LaRue, whom he married January 26, 1969; two sons, Bill LaRue and Mike (Connie) LaRue, both of Steubenville, OH; a sister, Cathy (Harold “Buster”) Woodward of Rayland, OH; two grandchildren, Alex and Chloe LaRue; two step-grandchildren, Michael and Brian Channels; and two step-great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Abel Channels.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral services at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Kenn Sickle, officiating. Private interment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH. 

Masks are required and social distancing guidelines are to be followed in the funeral home.
