Donald P. Kakascik, 72, of Brilliant, OH, passed away suddenly on Monday November 30, 2020 in the emergency room at Trinity Medical West in Steubenville, OH.
He was born November 11, 1948 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Albert Kakascik and Grace (Hopple) Kakascik Nichols.
Don worked as a glass installer for Steubenville Plate Glass then he retired from Neidengards Harley Davidson where he was a salesman. He was a member of the Lovers Lane Church of Christ in Steubenville where he was a song leader. He enjoyed playing his guitar and being in a band; riding his Harley-Davidson; and he loved his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Denise (Core) Kakascik, whom he married on Oct. 7, 1989; two sons, Jason Kakascik of Mingo Junction, OH and Donny Kakascik of Wintersville, OH; a daughter Rene’ Gaiten of Howard, OH; a step-son, Trevis Faulkner of Mt. Vernon, OH; a step-daughter, Wendy Faulkner of Cadiz, OH; two sisters, Janis Hamilton and Janet (the late Tom) Fox, both of Brilliant, OH; four grandchildren, Amber Fleming, Brandon Thompson, Kaitlyn Kakascik and Taylor Kakascik; two great-granddaughters, Aleah and Alexis Watson; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful fur babies, Mindy, Lola and Mitzi.
Friends will be received on Thursday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, OH, from 2 p.m. until the time of his funeral services at 4:00 p.m. with Minister Raymond Haygood, officiating. Masks are absolutely required and we respectfully ask that you not linger at the funeral home during visitation. Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Hopedale, OH on Friday at 1:00 p.m.
