Rachel V. (Wingo) Herrick Creekbaum, 89, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Thursday February 8, 2018 at the home of her dear friend and adopted daughter Donna, in Wintersville, OH, with whom she resided.
She was born October 7, 1928 in Mingo Junction, OH, a daughter of the late Clarence B. and Marie (Higgins) Wingo Palmer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Joseph M. Herrick, Sr.; her second husband, Ralph R. Creekbaum; her step-father, Casper A. Palmer; a brother, Clarence B. Wingo, II; two sisters, Nellie Wingo Poole and Eunice Donahue; and a half-brother, John A. Palmer.
Rachel was a homemaker and graduated from Mingo High School in 1946. She was a member of the Mingo Senior Citizens Club and attended Brilliant Christian Church. Rachael enjoyed crafts and crossword puzzles.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph M. Herrick, Jr. of Columbus, OH and Edward E. Herrick of Mingo Junction, OH; a daughter, Pamela (Scott) Herrick-Allen of San Diego, CA; a step-son, Kenneth R. (Linda) Creekbaum of Lynden, OH; two step-daughters, Inez (Bill) Walls and Joyce “JoAnn” McCullers both of Greenfield, OH; her dear friend and adopted daughter, Donna Freeland of Wintersville, OH; a sister, Flora (Peter) Tomaino of Follansbee, WV; a half-brother, Arvel L. (Pat) Palmer of Zanesville, OH; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Friends will be received to celebrate her life at Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, OH on Friday February 16th from 1:00 p.m. until the time of her funeral services at 4:00 p.m., with Dr. Marc R. Tinstman, Minister, officiating. Private inurnment at Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg, OH.
