Curtis W. Wehr, 60, of Marietta, Georgia, formerly of Holts Summit, MO, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017, at his residence.

Curtis was born on January 13, 1957 in Barnesville, Ohio the son of the late Robert J. and Alice A. Kemp Wehr.  He was united in marriage on December 27, 1997 to Glenda Mitchell, who survives at the home.

After the death of Curtis’ parents, Alice and Bob Wehr, Alice’s sister June and her husband Bill Millard adopted the Wehrs’ four children – Curtis, Mary Jane, Gary and Shelly – to raise with their own children, Mark, Bart, Diantha and Reid.

Curtis was a great man and never met a stranger.  He was a 1975 graduate of the Buckeye North High School in Brilliant, Ohio.  Curtis was a person who gave his all.  He became the manager of the football and basketball teams, never allowing a water bottle to go empty.  He was the most reliable paper boy Brilliant has probably ever had.

He was an honorary member of the Brilliant Volunteer Fire Department where he served more than 20 years as an active member.  He has served and protected many in his role of fireman, constable, and EMT.

He worked for the Steubenville Ambulance Service in Steubenville, Ohio, Dollar General Distribution Center in Fulton, Missouri and Acuity Specialty Hospital in Steubenville, Ohio.  Growing up 40 minutes from Three Rivers Stadium, Curtis was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  He enjoyed hanging out at the firehouse, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He served as a supportive brother, kind cousin, loving husband, loyal father and a dedicated Papa.  He always smiled even when he was worried and gave the best hugs.  He was truly the grandest Papa Bear.  The simple things brought Curtis joy.  He enjoyed a good pot roast for a Sunday dinner or chicken and noodles with apple pie.  He took great pride in taking care of his grandsons Ian, Logan Mitchell and Camron Flynn.

Curtis was a great man and never met a stranger.  No one can match his compassion and dedication to family and friends.  He will be missed by his legacy continues with all who he has touched.

In addition to his wife, Glenda, he is survived by his two children:  David H. Bissonnette of Brilliant, Ohio and Cheri Proctor (Shawhan) of Marietta, Georgia; three grandchildren:  Ian Bissonnette of Brilliant, Ohio, Logan Mitchell Proctor and Camron Flynn Proctor of Marietta, Georgia; his mother:  June Millard of Centertown; three brothers:  Mark “Big Papa” Millard of Jefferson City, Bart Millard of Holts Summit and Reid Millard of Jefferson City; three sisters:  Diantha Grabinski (Chester) of Centertown, Mary Jane Wehr of Jefferson City and Shelly Davis (Mike) of Jefferson City; seven nieces and nephews:  Mark Millard, Jr. (Jana), Christopher Zack, Tracy Chilton (Shawn), William B. Millard (Kimi), Jessica Millard, Ashton Millard, and Lexie Millard; six great nieces and nephews:  Collin Chilton, Braden Millard, Alex Millard, Zoe Chilton, Cohen Chilton, and Elena Leamond.  He was preceded in death by his parents:  Robert J. Wehr on October 30, 1964, Alice A. (Kemp) Wehr on March 12, 1965 and William “Bill” Millard on February 10, 2017; and one brother:  Gary Wehr on October  24, 1986.

Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the Brilliant Fire House, Station 1 in Brilliant, Ohio.  His funeral service, officiated by Dr. Marc R.
